Beach Handball is an attractive, fast-paced non-contact sport that combines competition with leisure and can be enjoyed by anyone. What does it look like? It's like soccer with your hands.
Played on the sand outside the Stamford Grand at Glenelg beach each Sunday over the summer months, it is fun-filled, fast-paced and perfect for beginners.

Rules of the game
Beach handball is played on sand by teams of four players (plus subs). Games feature two halves of 10 minutes each.
The rules allow players to hold the ball for three seconds, and take three steps with the ball. Players pass the ball between their teammates in order to create space to shoot at goal.
In beach handball, extra points are awarded for spectacular goals, such as alleyoops or 360˚ spin shots, penalty shots or goals by a goalkeeper. Goals must be shot from outside the six-metre area, therefore encouraging giant leaps at goal.
Each half of the game is worth one point each. Should each team win a half, the game is decided by a ‘shoot-out’.
See the Beach Handball rules section for more information.
